Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

• Support study setup and preparation for necropsy and histology activities.
• Train to perform necropsy and histology techniques according to SOPs and study protocols.
• Communicate with pathologists and laboratory managers regarding specimen collection, handling, and submission.
• Maintain proper documentation, including chain-of-custody forms for outsourced work.
• Perform proper use and preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment and spaces.
• Ensure full traceability of work and specimens.
• Follow laboratory safety, PPE, GLP, and applicable procedures.

• General laboratory skills and processes
• Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Laboratory safety and PPE
• Data error recognition, documentation, and resolution  
• Multitasking while maintaining efficiency and quality  
• Preferred: Histology, animal science
• Preferred: Necropsy or tissue collection
• Preferred: Microtomy
• Preferred: Tissue processing
• Preferred: Paraffin embedding
• Preferred: Histology slide staining
• Preferred: GLP laboratory experience

Education/Experience:

• Minimum: High school diploma + 1–3 years of relevant experience OR Associate’s degree + 0–2 years of relevant experience.
• Preferred: Associate’s degree + 1–3 years of relevant experience.
• Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) proficiency preferred.  
• Must be able to perform ex vivo work while wearing appropriate PPE.
• Must be able to perform duties requiring lifting, sitting, standing, walking, and bending.
